B-READY/B-SAFE Program
The B-READY and B-SAFE Programs at Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin are a collaboration of St. Stephen’s Youth Programs and Church of St. Augustine and St. Martin.
B-READY
B-READY operates on days when the Boston Public Schools are in session. At our site the programs runs Monday through Friday from 2:30-6:00 p.m. and serves 40 elementary students. A hot nutritious meal is served every day. The students receive academic support including daily homework help; tutoring in reading and math; weekly classes in technology, writing, science, visual and performing arts and array of cultural enrichment opportunities. High School students work part-time in the program as mentors to younger students. Teens also receive academic support, college and career mentoring, 21st century employment skills, community organizing, leadership training and social opportunities.
Our congregation is responsible for serving one meal per week. Carole Simon oversees the menus.

B-SAFE (Bishop’s Summer Academic & Enrichment) Program
The B-SAFE Program is a five week, full day academic and enrichment program serving young people from first grade through high school from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. At our site we serve 60 elementary school students. The goal of the program is to build a community where all people feel safe, feel big and feel connected. The site includes academic programs in reading, writing and math; visual and performing arts workshops; science activities; recreational activities and many field trips. A healthy breakfast and lunch are served each day along with an end of the day snack.
